A little look behind the scenes…

We’ve now been living in Norway as a family for about nine months. Even though there is still a lot of work to be done on the farm and its buildings, we are truly enjoying the land and nature around us. The days seem to fly by, and because the surroundings here are so inspiring, I’ve been creating lots of new work.

During the weekends we spend a lot of time renovating — often with help from the children — or taking long walks through the forests nearby. The studio is now in use. There are still a few things left to finish, but it already feels like home. We replaced part of the roof with transparent panels to bring in more daylight, and the roof and walls have all been insulated, plastered, and painted. The kiln also needed some adjustments, since the electrical systems here are different from those in the Netherlands. Thankfully, it’s now working again and being used regularly.

Sometimes things take a little more patience here — deliveries can take longer, and some materials are harder to find — but we happily accept that. Behind the scenes we’ve also been busy getting the webshop online, which took more time than expected, especially because we had to figure out shipping and delivery all over again here in Norway.

At the same time, I’ve noticed that life moves more slowly here, and that all five of us have become calmer and more relaxed. Things don’t have to be finished immediately. We’re often paused by a beautiful view or something small nature suddenly decides to show us.

It’s within that quietness that there is room to create again. New ideas are given time to grow, and slowly the shelves in the studio are filling up with new work once more.

At Fossdalen, things are slowly coming together as well. Our cabin Moseng is now available to book, surrounded by forest and nature.

The first pieces are now available in the webshop — you are warmly welcome to take a look.

You can find them at lillysfable.com, right in the middle of the forest where they were created.

Love,

Jill & Erik
